On the afternoon of April 25, Thanh Vu Medic Bac Lieu General Hospital said that the patient had recovered after surgery to break the penis.
Patient P (character name has been changed) was admitted to the hospital in a state of severe pain in the penis area, accompanied by swelling and bruises.
Through clinical examination and necessary tests, doctors determined that the cavern structure was damaged, lost continuity, and the surrounding soft tissue was severely edema. From there, the team concluded that this was a case of penile fracture, i.e., cavern white sac rupture, and indicated emergency surgery.

The surgery was performed on the same day of admission to treat the hematoma, protect the urethra and restore the corpus cavernosum structure. During the surgery, doctors recorded a lesion in the white sac of the right corpus cavernosum, about 2x3cm in size. The team proceeded to remove blood clots, clean the lesion area and suture recovery with specialized threads. After about 60 minutes, the surgery was completed, ensuring the penis function for the patient.
After surgery, the patient was awake, vital signs were stable, and the pain condition decreased significantly. The patient continued to be monitored and cared for post-operatively and discharged from the hospital after a few days.
According to BS.CKII Ta Huu Nghia, Deputy Head of the Department of Surgery - Interdisciplinary, penile fracture is a rare but dangerous androgenic accident, often occurring due to incidents in sexual activity or due to the habit of automatically breaking the penis. If not treated promptly, this condition can cause blood clots, penile deformities, even necrosis, and long-term effects on physiological function.
Doctors recommend that when there are signs such as sudden pain, swelling and bruising of the penis area, patients need to go to a medical facility for examination and timely intervention, avoiding self-treatment or delaying treatment.
