On May 23, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control (CDC) said that since the beginning of the year, 2 dengue fever outbreaks have appeared throughout Ha Tinh province.
The first outbreak was detected on April 6 in Hop Tien residential group, Vung Ang ward with 4 cases. To date, the number of cases in this outbreak has increased to 60.
The second outbreak was detected in Lien Phu residential group, Hoanh Son ward on May 3 with 3 cases. To date, there have been 11 cases in this residential group.
Epidemic prevention and control has been highly focused on by specialized agencies in coordination with the government, but the effectiveness is still not thorough," Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh shared.
According to the Director of Ha Tinh CDC, the reason why dengue fever prevention has not been thoroughly effective is because the weather has been complicated recently, hot and sunny with many heavy rains, so the spraying of chemicals to kill mosquitoes and larvae is affected.
According to Mr. Thanh, on May 22, Hoanh Son ward continued to launch a general cleaning campaign, environmental treatment, overturning water containers, and spraying chemicals to prevent dengue fever for the second time.
The health sector and local Party committees and authorities of Vung Ang and Hoanh Son wards will continue to focus on drastic solutions to combat the epidemic, especially inspection and supervision at each household, thoroughly handling each larvae breeding ground.
