On August 5, the Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) informed that the unit had issued a notice to suspend circulation, recall and request the destruction of the entire nationwide batch of Gel Promed - Box 1 product type 30g, receipt number 52/22/CBMP-HY, batch 010124, production date 08.01.2024, expiration date 08.01.2027.
This is a product that Starmed Pharmaceutical Group Joint Stock Company (Hanoi) is responsible for bringing to the market and is produced by Starmed High-Tech Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company (Hung Yen).
According to the test results conducted by the Center for Drug, Cosmetic and Food Testing (Hanoi Department of Health), the product sample taken at An Khanh Pharmacy (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) contained Methylparaben - a substance not announced in the product ingredient. At the same time, the content of Phenoxyethanol in the product is 1.08%, exceeding the allowable level of 1.0% according to the ASEAN Cosmetic Agreement. In addition, the label and instructions for the product have content that is not in accordance with the published documents, even showing signs of advertising the wrong use of cosmetics, such as: preventing scarring, regenerating new skin cells, healing wounds quickly, users: skin diseases caused by viral infections...
Based on current legal regulations, the Department of Drug Administration requires:
The Departments of Health of provinces and cities announced the suspension of business and use of this product; recalled and destroyed the violating batch; monitored and handled violations if any.
Starmed Company must send a notice of revocation to all places of distribution and use of the product; receive the product returned and destroyed; report the revocation results to the Department before August 29, 2025. At the same time, review other production lots and report before August 14, 2025 if similar errors are detected.
The Hanoi and Hung Yen Departments of Health supervise the implementation of product recovery and destruction; recall the receipt number of the declaration form and check and handle violations according to regulations. The results must be sent to the Department before September 14, 2025.
