Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Viet Nga - Deputy Director of Can Tho Department of Health informed that, implementing the direction of the Prime Minister, the Department of Health and relevant departments and branches have advised the People's Committee of Can Tho City to submit a document to the Government and the Prime Minister to allow the suspension of the use of ODA loans from the Hungarian Government; at the same time, provide central capital to supplement the remaining capital of the Project.

"Yesterday, the city leaders worked with the contractor consortium to find solutions for implementation. When there is a document from the Central Government, Can Tho City will take the next steps" - Ms. Nga said.
Regarding the issue of inspecting projects facing difficulties and obstacles in Can Tho City, including the Oncology Hospital Construction Investment Project (scale of 500 beds), the Deputy Director of the Can Tho Department of Health also said that this morning, July 30, the Department of Health worked with the Government Inspectorate and provided complete documents as requested.
Regarding this issue, at the press conference, a representative of the City Inspectorate informed that the Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee had directed the unit to urgently implement it.
"If there are no changes, this Friday (August 1), the decision to inspect 5 projects assigned to Can Tho City will be announced" - said the representative of the City Inspectorate.

The investment project to build Can Tho City Oncology Hospital (scale of 500 beds) was decided and approved by the People's Committee of Can Tho City on January 25, 2017 with a total investment of VND 1,700 billion from the ODA loan of the Hungarian Government and the counterpart capital of Can Tho City invested by the Department of Health. The hospital started construction in October 2017 but had to stop construction in 2022 due to the expiration of the construction contract between the unit and the contractor consortium as well as the project loan agreement.
Regarding the purchase of linear accelerator radiotherapy machines at Can Tho City Oncology Hospital (located on Chau Van Liem Street), Can Tho Department of Health said that on July 23, the Department submitted an appraisal report on the feasibility study of the linear accelerator radiotherapy machine project to Can Tho City Oncology Hospital to the Department of Finance.
On July 30, the City Department of Finance sent a document to the City's Project Appraisal Council, seeking opinions on the feasibility report of the Department of Health.
"After the City's Project Appraisal Council agreed, the Department of Finance submitted to the Can Tho City People's Committee for approval of this project. When there is a decision, the Department of Health will conduct the bidding according to regulations" - Ms. Nga said.
