On the afternoon of September 6, the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center (HCMC) successfully performed endoscopic surgery to remove an inflammatory excess intestine for a male patient, marking the first time high technology has been deployed locally.
Previously, the male patient (36 years old) was hospitalized with symptoms of pain in the right pelvic area. Through examination, testing and ultrasound, doctors diagnosed acute intestinal inflammation.
At this time, Dr. Ly Bao Duy (CKII doctor of Binh Dan Hospital working in Con Dao) had a remote consultation with the Board of Directors of Binh Dan Hospital, and was prescribed surgery. With a modern endoscopic surgery system that has just been equipped, the surgery was performed at 4:00 p.m. the same day, and went smoothly and successfully.
This is one of the first results of the rotating medical team working in Con Dao special area. This shows an important step forward in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people, helping to reduce the pressure of referral and support timely emergency care on remote islands.
