At 4:05 a.m. on September 4, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN)/power Project Management Board 3 successfully energized the 110 kV Con Dao transformer station, serving the supply of electricity from the national grid to Con Dao Special Zone.
Previously, at 7:09 p.m. on September 2, 2025, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN)/power Project Management Board 3 also successfully energized the National Grid Power Supply Project for Con Dao Special Zone, Ho Chi Minh City.
This is a project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The successful energization of the project has contributed to ensuring safe, continuous and stable power supply for Con Dao Special Zone, meeting the needs of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security and improving people's lives.
Replacing on-site diesel power sources, reducing power production costs, limiting greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the implementation of Vietnam's commitment to reduce emissions and sustainable development. Affirming the capacity to deploy large-scale energy projects with modern technology, in complex and harsh construction conditions at sea.
The project to supply electricity from the national grid to Con Dao is an important turning point in realizing the national energy infrastructure development strategy, demonstrating the determination of the Government, the electricity industry and the project participants in caring for and developing infrastructure for the sea and island areas, border areas - islands of the Fatherland.
The project has a total investment of VND 4,923 billion and will be implemented from December 2024. The project has a power supply scale of 110kV, total length of 103.7km, including:
The airline is 17.5km long through Vinh Chau Town, Soc Trang. The 77.7km long underwater cable connects from VT32 (the end of the sea) to Con Dao. Underground cable on the island: 8.5km from the shore approach to TBA110KV at An Hoi Power Plant, Con Dao. Transformer station: Expanding the 110Kv road section at Vinh Chau 220kV Transformer Station (Soc Trang) and building a 110/22kV GIS transformer station in Con Dao.
