Regarding information reflected on social networks related to the case of a patient who died after examination and treatment at Ba Ria General Hospital, the Department of Health requested Ba Ria General Hospital to urgently report the entire incident, including the process of receiving, examination, diagnosis, monitoring, paraclinical indications, consultation, surgery, treatment and care for the patient.
The Department of Health also requested the hospital to organize a Professional Council meeting in accordance with regulations; invite experts from the city's final-line hospitals to participate in objectively and comprehensively assessing the process of receiving, diagnosing, treating, caring for patients and determining the cause of death.
The conclusion of the Professional Council must be made into a record, clarifying professional assessments, issues to be learned from and related responsibilities (if any), and reporting to the Department of Health before June 10, 2026.
At the same time, on June 8, 2026, the Director of the Department of Health signed a decision to establish an inspection team to comprehensively review and evaluate the compliance with the process of receiving, examining, diagnosing, handling, treating and caring for patients at the hospital; compare with current professional regulations to clarify the reflected contents, determine the responsibilities of relevant collectives and individuals (if any) and handle them in accordance with regulations.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health will consider the case objectively, cautiously, in accordance with legal regulations, in the spirit of transparency, receptiveness and putting the rights and safety of patients first.
Representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that they will continue to pay attention, share, encourage and closely coordinate with the patient's family in the process of resolving the case; and at the same time, provide complete records, documents and related information to functional agencies to serve the work of verifying and clarifying the case according to regulations.
