The policy of hospital fee exemption is clearly planned, starting from vulnerable groups such as the poor, meritorious people, children, the elderly, etc. Next is to deploy annual health check-ups for all people from 2026 and aim to exempt hospital fees for all people in the period of 2030-2035.
To achieve this goal, he said, it is necessary to have the coordination of functional agencies, the health sector and the whole society. Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co believes that the financial problem can be solved if three resources are synchronously mobilized: National health insurance with a diverse and strong coverage system; State budget, especially for disadvantaged areas and specialized healthcare sectors; Socialized resources, including businesses, community funds and philanthropists - models that have proven effective in many developed countries.
With the current economic growth rate, the goal of exempting all-people hospital fees is completely feasible. Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co said that the policy of hospital fee exemption is not only a social security policy but also a national development strategy, putting people at the center. This policy, along with periodic public health check-ups, will shift the health sector from passive treatment to proactive disease prevention and early detection. He expressed his hope that with political determination and a methodical roadmap, Vietnam will achieve the goal of exempting all hospital fees for the entire population, bringing practical benefits to tens of millions of people.
