Fast support, long term support
Recently, readers of Lao Dong Newspaper have made many contributions to support the lives of people in Kien Giang province. This has partly helped them overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
Returning to visit the situation of Mrs. Tran Thi Tu, residing in Vinh Hoa commune, U Minh Thuong district, once made many people feel sorry and sympathetic because of her old age, struggling to take care of her sick daughter and raise two young grandchildren.
The old dilapidated house is now gone thanks to the support of the District Association for Promoting Education to rebuild it. Life, which was difficult before, is now much more stable. Thanks to the support of readers near and far, Mrs. Tu has escaped the difficult situation of being short of money.
Happily showing the reporter the water dispenser funded by readers, Mrs. Tu confided: “I am so happy! The Association for the Promotion of Education supported my house and the readers of Lao Dong Newspaper helped me with money to drill a water dispenser to have clean water to use. Readers supported me with money to get my daughter examined and get medicine, and monthly living expenses, so my family has less difficulty. This Tet is much better than previous years. I thank everyone for their help.”
Coming to the countryside of Nam Yen commune, An Bien district, we revisited the character Danh Thanh Duoc in the article "A 9-year-old boy collects scrap to support his sick father". Since his father fell ill and his mother left, his father and his siblings have had to work harder to make a living. Every day after school, the boy had to rush into the kitchen to cook. Taking advantage of all his free time, Duoc collected scrap to earn more money to take care of the lives of his father and son. The money he collected from collecting scrap in 2 days of selling was about 30,000 VND. Duoc saved it to buy medicine for his father and daily food.
After receiving support from readers near and far, the life of the father and son has become somewhat more stable, the money helps to temporarily cover daily expenses and Duoc's studies. On the days before Tet, when visiting Duoc, the boy still looks small and agile, doing housework.
While his peers were able to buy many nice clothes, the little boy still only wanted to have money to take care of his father. He confided: “If I had money during Tet, I would want to buy food for my father, buy medicine for him to take to cure his illness, and save the rest for school. I don’t like to buy toys because I will use up all my savings.”
Golden Heart Fund is a bridge of humanity
On the days before Tet, representatives of the Tam Long Vang Social Fund and the Red Cross Society of Kien Giang province visited and presented donations from Lao Dong Newspaper readers to people in difficult circumstances in An Bien and U Minh Thuong districts. This was not only material support but also brought great joy to people in difficult circumstances on the days before Tet.
Visiting the family of Mrs. Thi Ly in Dong Yen commune, An Bien district, the character in the article “Sick grandparents buy scrap to raise 3 grandchildren and seriously ill daughter”, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters presented the amount of 27,130,000 VND donated by readers to Mrs. Ly’s family.
Ms. Ly’s family was extremely happy to receive this money and sincerely thanked the readers for their help. Ms. Ly shared: “We also saved this support money to treat our daughter’s illness. After Tet, we plan to buy fish to raise, earn more income to improve our lives.”
Accompanying the Golden Heart Fund, Lao Dong Newspaper readers are the close support of local authorities in places where people live and the joint efforts of the Kien Giang Provincial Red Cross Society.
Ms. Bui Thuy Hao - Vice President of the Kien Giang Red Cross Society said: The Society highly welcomes the spirit of sharing and helping the difficult lives of the Golden Heart Fund and readers near and far. The Society always supports wholeheartedly in verifying the circumstances, finding information to provide accurate information about the difficulties that real lives are experiencing.
“In the past time, many lives in Kien Giang have been supported by philanthropists and readers of Lao Dong Newspaper, helping them overcome difficulties, have a better life, and have more confidence to strive to rise up. Especially this year, many households are happy to welcome a new spring with more warmth and fullness. The Golden Heart Fund is a humane bridge to connect readers everywhere to help the situation in Kien Giang,” Ms. Hao shared.
