Mr. Tran Duc Thinh (born in 1978 in Hanoi) works as a security guard at a company. On the night of October 1, 2024, during his shift, he had a serious accident. When he was found and taken to the emergency room, he had completely lost feeling in his lower limbs.
According to Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tan, Deputy Head of the Department of Neurosurgery (Thanh Nhan Hospital), patient Thinh was diagnosed with multiple injuries, including thoracic spine injury and traumatic brain injury. Determining that the patient was in a very critical condition, with his life at risk of death, the specialists quickly coordinated and consulted, implementing resuscitation measures against shock, from airway control, pain relief to chest CT scan and screening for injuries. However, the patient was admitted to the hospital after the "golden" time for first aid, so the patient's lower limbs showed signs of loss of sensation.
Looking at her sick husband, lying paralyzed on the hospital bed, unable to move, Loan's heart felt like it was choking. She was struggling to make ends meet, and now that he was sick, she had nowhere to turn. Loan said in tears: "My husband is the main breadwinner, raising three children. My father-in-law, over 80 years old, has been paralyzed for two years now. He is bedridden and unable to take care of himself. Every day, I have to run around, taking care of my father-in-law and paying for my husband's hospital bills, but it's not enough."
Talking about Mr. Thinh's situation, Dr. Hoang Ngoc Tan said: "Mr. Thinh suffered from multiple severe injuries, his health is currently very weak, and his two lower limbs are paralyzed. Although the hospital has supported the hospital fees and food expenses, the patient is having to use many types of antibiotics that are not covered by insurance, which are very expensive; meanwhile, the patient's family is in very difficult circumstances.
