In mid-June, the summer sun seemed to burn all the mountain ranges of Bao Lam forest, so we (PV) went to the house of Hoang Van Canh - a student at Mai Lai school - Pac Mieu town primary school.
After 15 minutes of riding a motorbike back up the high mountain slopes, the reporter found Canh's house in a small, flat area in the valley.
Meeting you, no one could hold back their hearts when witnessing your heartbreaking and miserable circumstances.
Although he has finished 5th grade, he is thin, black, and has wide eyes when meeting strangers. His sad eyes continuously look down at the floor when asked about his family situation.

From a very young age, Canh had lacked complete affection from his mother. My parents did not live happily together, the year I was in second grade, my mother left and had a long-term anniversary without a single return.
The father, for a living, had to work as a worker away from home, leaving the Canh brothers to rely on their old and weak grandmother, who was blind. In a wooden house with dirt and soil, struggling in the mountains and forests, Canh's childhood was the days of deprivation and hardship.
In early 2025, when she entered her late teens, her grandmother was forced to move back to live with her uncle (father's brother). Canh's father also decided to quit his job as a worker and return to take care of his child.

It was thought that after many years of lack of affection, Canh would have protection from his father, but the cruel fate once again took away his last support.
On May 8, 2025, while taking firewood from the mountain, Canh's father unfortunately slipped and died. Since then, he has officially become an orphan, living with his 5-year-old sister in a seriously degraded house, struggling in the mountains and forests.
Sharing with PV, Mr. Hoang Van Danh (Chang's biological uncle) - shared: "Chang's father (Hoang Van Chu) got married in Nam Quang commune, lived together for a while and left the villa without even completing any divorce procedures".

Amid the huge loss of an 11-year-old child, the burning question in every adult's heart is: Who will take care of these two helpless children? Who will hold your hands in the coming cold months?
Talking to reporters, Ms. Phan Thi Huong - Canh's homeroom teacher - shared: "At Canh school, my academic achievements are average but I am a very good and understanding child. During the school year, I once wrote a paper and described my father - the person I have a lot of affection for".
Information from the family representative, the People's Committee of Pac Mieu town is completing procedures to send the two Canh brothers to the Cao Bang Provincial Social Protection Center. when entering the center, children's education will not be interrupted.
"Canh's family is very good, he knows how to help his uncle with the cows, but my family also has 4 young children, and raised his elderly mother with poor eyes, who is really unable to afford to bring in the two Canh brothers" - Mr. Hoang Van Danh's voice was choked on.

Faced with Canh's particularly difficult situation, in early May 2025, the Trade Union of Pac Mieu Town Primary School called for the contribution of all cadres, teachers, staff and students in the whole school.
At the meeting, the union representative presented Hoang Van Canh with a savings book worth 10 million VND along with many necessities such as rice, instant noodles, books, and school supplies.
The image of the little student quietly bowing his head to thank but his eyes filling with sadness as if he was looking for something made the witnesses choked up.
