Mr. Hung has a wife, Ms. Hoang Thi Tham, born in 1993. Mr. Hung and his wife have 2 children, Nguyen Thi Thao Uyen born in 2012 and Nguyen Anh Thu born in 2015.
Mr. Hung is congenitally disabled in the motor system, currently receiving support money of 750,000 VND/month. The family burden weighs on Ms. Tham's shoulders. To have more money to cover family life, Ms. Tham cultivates and farms all year round, with an average income of about 3-4 million VND/month.
Difficult family circumstances, disabled husband unable to work, wife only farming, but Mr. Hung and his wife still try to save money to raise 2 children.
However, since childhood, Thao Uyen has often been sick, and after each high fever, she often has seizures. Mr. Hung is very worried because Thao Uyen's seizures are more frequent on hot summer days or when the weather changes seasons.
Mr. Hung said that when his child was young, although often sick and convulsing, his wife and he did not see any abnormal signs in the spine. However, from when she was about 7 years old, Uyen began to clearly show scoliosis. Mr. Hung and his wife took their child to a provincial hospital for examination, and doctors advised to wait for the child to reach the age to be transferred to a higher level for surgery.
Every time my child is sick and goes to the hospital, my husband and I run around borrowing money everywhere. Both families are also in difficulty, so we can only provide some support. Sharing more about Thao Uyen's condition, Mr. Hung said that on September 15, he had just undergone a spinal scoliosis surgery lasting from 9 am to 7:30 pm at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.
My child entered the operating room in the morning, and only got out of the room at 7:30 pm. Throughout that time, my husband and I and my older brother were outside like fire. My child has been sick since childhood, so he suffered many disadvantages and pains, I only pray for the surgery to be successful so that my child can walk normally, study, play and grow up like his peers," Mr. Hung said tearfully.
Also according to Mr. Hung, for many years following his sick child, taking his child to the hospital and even the recent surgery, he and his wife borrowed 200 million VND from relatives and banks. For a family with 2/4 disabled people, who only rely on fields and gardens and meager allowances, the above debt will be a burden lingering in the coming months...
In addition, to fully recover, Thao Uyen still needs treatment and recovery training in the near future. Mr. Hung and his wife will have to spend all their time accompanying and taking care of their child, and the family's income will also be depleted...
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, Head of Tien Phong village, Son Kim commune (Ha Tinh province) said that Mr. Hung's family used to be a poor household, now it is still a near-poor household, and has 2/4 disabled members. The family situation was already difficult, since Thao Uyen grew up, became sick, and the situation became even more difficult.
During Tet holidays, with some local cakes and gifts, they prioritize visiting Mr. Hung's family, but all support is mainly at the level of spiritual encouragement.
