On the afternoon of June 20, representatives of the Golden Heart Social Support Fund and leaders of the People's Committee of Cao Xa commune, Lam Thao district visited and encouraged the family of Mr. Dang Van Phong and Ms. Hoang Thi Nien, parents of Mr. Dang Duy Doanh (31 years old) - the victim who died after rescuing 4 children who drowned on the Red River exactly 1 month ago.
In a small and old level 4 house deep in the alley of residential area No. 3, Cao Xa commune, witnessed by the leaders of the Commune People's Committee, representatives of the Golden Heart Social and Cultural Fund - Lao Dong Newspaper presented 10,450,000 VND to Mr. Phong and Mrs. Nien.
Receiving support from the Golden Heart Social Support Fund, Mr. Phong was moved: "Doianh is a pillar in the family but now he is no longer there. Doanh's younger sister is still sick, my wife and I are old and weak, the future will be very difficult... I don't know what else to say, thank you to the Fund and the community for caring for and helping my family".
The representative of the Golden Heart Social Support Fund also expressed hope that the support from readers of Lao Dong Newspaper will help Mr. Phong and Mrs. Nien's family soon overcome the pain of losing a loved one, overcome difficulties, and stabilize their lives.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuy - Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Xa commune - shared: "Mr. Phong and Mrs. Nien's family are in a difficult situation in the area, now that Mr. Doanh has passed away, the family will be even more miserable. The help from readers of Lao Dong Newspaper as well as charitable organizations and benefactors in the past month, no matter how little or much, has been very practical and valuable, supporting the family to overcome pain and adversity".
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper published articles mentioning the incident of Mr. Dang Duy Doanh unfortunately dying after saving 4 children from drowning on the Red River through Cao Xa Commune, Lam Thao District on May 20, along with many difficult circumstances for his family.
Mr. Phong and Mrs. Nien have five children, Doanh is the third child in the family. 5 years ago, the second son died in a traffic accident, the pain of losing a child has not yet subsided for the miserable elderly couple, now once again "the silver-headed man leaves the blue-headed man".
In addition, the youngest son of the family suffered from bone marrow disease. Although he spent a lot of money on treatment in 2024, he needed support from the residential area, but he has not recovered yet.
Ms. Dang Thanh Quy (41 years old) - Mr. Doanh's older sister - sadly recalled: "Doianh is the main breadwinner, the economic pillar of the family. Previously, Doanh used to work as a worker, but because his mother and younger brother were sick, for more than a year now, my younger brother has had to quit his job and stay home to work as a laborer while taking care of his mother and younger brother. Perhaps because of the difficult family circumstances, my younger brother did not think about getting married. Now I'm no longer there, everything happened too suddenly, it's very heartbreaking".
