Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that Moscow has not received any proposal from foreign investors regarding the acquisition of Nord Stream 2 - the Russian gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea.
No one has reached out to the government on this issue, Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Petersburg (SPIEF).
Last November, Western media reported that US investor Stephen P. Lynch was looking to buy the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The Baltic Sea pipeline connecting Russia and Germany was severely damaged after a series of mysterious explosions in 2022.
In June this year, American investor Stephen P. Lynch proposed the idea of the US buying Nord Stream 2 at a presentation at the German Federal Economy Ministry.
Lynch had previously made a similar proposal to the Trump administration. The investor believes the US should take some control of its critical energy infrastructure.
Russia and the US could cooperate to restore the Nord Stream gas pipeline through the establishment of a joint venture to restart and operate the system in the future, said Matthias Moosdorf, a German lawmaker from the Party for Another Choice for Germany ( AfidD), a member of the German parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission.
I expect Russia and the US to find a common solution to establish a pipeline management enterprise, he said in an interview with TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Petersburg (SPIEF).
According to him, the AfD will support the restoration and operation of the gas pipeline system connecting Russia and Germany. We will certainly agree to the restoration and operation of both pipelines, the German politician said.
Commenting on the European Commission's plan to ban energy imports from Russia, Mr. Moosdorf said that the current policy of sanctions against Russia goes against the interests of Europe and Germany.
Unfortunately, Europe is currently paying a lot higher price for gas, which reflects Europes wrong policy, he said.

Also at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. For the 28th anniversary of Petersburg, Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev said that the world is witnessing the formation of a completely new energy order.
Mr. Tsivilev emphasized that the entire value chain, from primary energy exploitation to conversion into economic output, is undergoing fundamental changes thanks to breakthrough technology and new legal frameworks.
The Russian Energy Minister highlighted the concept of a just energy transition and cited the Nord Stream gas pipeline as the cheapest way to provide energy for rapid industrial development. However, the Baltic Sea gas pipeline was sabotaged to block the flow of cheap gas to Europe.
