After the 2024 Olympics officially opened, tennis started at Roland Garros, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz were two of the players scheduled to play early.
According to the draw results, the opponents of the two top seeded players are not too strong.
With Djokovic, he meets Australian Matthew Ebden, a 36-year-old tennis player who currently does not have enough points to enter the ATP rankings. Nole failed in round 1 at the 2016 Rio Olympics, but that did not happen in this year's Olympics.
Without having to go all out, Djokovic still had an easy victory over his opponent with a score of 2 sets of 6-0, 6-1.
The Serbian player broke all three of Ebden's service games, while also taking advantage of the service games and ending the set.
Set 2 followed almost the same scenario, when Djokovic led 4-0 after 2 breaks won. He only let his opponent win in game 5, before winning another break in game 7 to end the match after only 54 minutes.
Djokovic will wait for Rafael Nadal in round 2
As for Alcaraz, the Spaniard meets Lebanese Hady Habib, currently ranked 275 in the world.
The number 2 seed also got off to a fast start in set 1, having a break to lead 3-0. However, Alcaraz still let his opponent win 3 games before closing set 1 with a score of 6-3.
But by the second set, Habib had no more resistance. Alcaraz won 3 breaks and won 6-1, winning a ticket to the second round, with the opponent being the winner of the match between Taloon Griekspoor and Cameron Norrie.
In the women's singles, Iga Swiatek and Jasmine Paolini both won tickets to continue after winning 2 sets, but it was more difficult.
Swiatek won 6-2, 7-5 against Irina-Camelia Begu - the Romanian player ranked 136th in the world, while Paolini beat another Romanian player, Ana Bogdan 7-5, 6-3.
