The 2024 Laver Cup ended in the early morning of September 23 (Vietnam time) with the championship belonging to the European Team. Carlos Alcaraz and his teammates broke the 2-year winning streak of the World Team, and brought home the 5th trophy for the European Team.
After saying goodbye to Laver Cup 2024 in Berlin, it is time to meet again at Laver Cup 2025. As scheduled, the 8th Laver Cup in history is confirmed to be held in San Francisco, USA.
The specific location is Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors - the 7-time NBA champion team. The tournament will take place from September 19 to 21, 2025.
San Francisco has many attractions, including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and Alcatraz Island.
Chase Center is located in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood and is surrounded by Thrive City, a dynamic outdoor area outside the arena.
The state-of-the-art Chase Center has become a major draw for some of the biggest music, entertainment and sporting events taking place on the West Coast of the United States since opening in 2019.
“We are excited to bring the Laver Cup to sports fans in San Francisco and the entire Bay Area community,” said Laver Cup Chairman and TEAM8 CEO Tony Godsick.
“The Chase Center will be the perfect setting to host the eighth event, in a city that loves the sport but hasn’t had a top-tier men’s professional event in over 10 years.”
The Laver Cup is held to honor tennis legend Rod Laver, the only male tennis player to win the “Calendar Grand Slam” twice. The 86-year-old former tennis player now lives in San Diego, California.
Held on an impressive black hard court, the Laver Cup rotates between Europe and the rest of the world each year. The first four Laver Cups have been won by Team Europe – Prague (2017), Chicago (2018), Geneva (2019) and Boston (2021).
The world team won the following two events in London (2022) and Vancouver (2023).
A special thing about the 2025 Laver Cup is that the two teams will be led by two new captains. After 7 consecutive tournaments of intellectual competition between Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe, from next year, the competition will be between Andre Agassi and Yannick Noah, legends in their own right.
They will bring new energy and perspective to the tournament from 2025.
With 60 singles titles - including eight Grand Slams, according to Infosys ATP Stats - Agassi is considered one of the best players of his generation. The former world No. 1 also won the Davis Cup three times with the United States, as well as a gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Although Noah did not have the same stats as Agassi, he was a standout player on the ATP Tour for many years, with a career-high ranking of No. 4. His most memorable achievement was at Roland Garros in 1983, when he became the first Frenchman to win a domestic Grand Slam in 37 years.
He turned to coaching after retiring, leading France to Davis Cup titles in 1991, 1996 and 2017.
During their playing careers, Agassi and Noah met twice in 1989, with the result being 1-1.
