Over the past 80 years, Vietnam has developed from a country that is outside the international arena to a country that is respected and committed to pursuing multilateralism, Dr. Kambiz Ghawami - Chairman of the German Commission of the World University Support Organization (WUS) - shared with VNA.
Dr. Kambiz Ghawami recalled that the international community has twice elected Vietnam as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, demonstrating the recognition of the important role of the Southeast Asian country in world peace and security. According to him, because Vietnam clearly understands war crimes from its own history, its reminders to the international community to respect international law are always reliable.
According to the German economist and lawyer, the high-level trips of Vietnamese leaders to Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and Latin America show the extensive network of relations that Vietnam has built in recent years. A recent example of Vietnam's multilateralism in international trade exchanges is the 5th anniversary of the implementation of the European Union - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) on August 1. Thanks to this agreement, Vietnam has become the EU's most important trade partner in ASEAN and the EU's 16th largest partner worldwide.
Dr. Ghawami believes that all of this shows that Vietnam is no longer an outdated country but has become an active member, respected by the international community.
Mr. Rolf Schulze - President of the Germany - Vietnam Association, former German Ambassador to Vietnam - shared: "If we look back at Vietnam's recent history, I can say this is a great success story. Vietnam has come a long way. Vietnam has gone through a difficult past but has overcome it spectacularly. Now, Vietnam is a modern country, entering an era of growth, developing both economically, socialized and politically in a positive way".
According to Mr. Schulze, Vietnam is a true success story. He expressed his impression of the spirit and working ethics of the Vietnamese people, as well as the fact that the Vietnamese people always solve problems flexibly, in accordance with reality, always looking towards the future and keeping an optimistic spirit. Vietnam currently has a well-trained workforce, an increasingly developed infrastructure and an industry on the rise. Another very important thing is that Vietnam has a stable political situation. Mr. Schulze believes that all of the above are achievements that Vietnam has the right to be proud of.
"I first came to Vietnam in 2012. The country and people of Vietnam have enriched my life. And since then, not only my work but my whole family has been attached to Vietnam. I am very grateful for the exchange and cooperation between Germany and Vietnam, a process that has made me increasingly attached to Vietnam" - Mr. Ludwig Graf Westarp, Vice President of the Vietnam - Germany Association, lecturer at Dortmund University of Technology and former Chief Representative at the German Association of Small and Medium Enterprises in Vietnam shared with VNA.
Mr. Ludwig was impressed that Vietnam has become a "middle-class powerhouse", with a certain role and influence in the international arena. Vietnam's 50-year journey has created the unity, economic strength and international position needed for a new era of development, opening up opportunities in digital growth, green growth and high value.
Independence - freedom - Happiness, these three words are Vietnam's vision of a strong, free and prosperous country, where all people can live in happiness. Vietnam has gone through an impressive journey. I wish Vietnam continued success on this path - Mr. Ludwig Graf Westarp said.
