Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang recently sent a letter of invitation to the Defense Ministers of 8 countries (Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan) to attend the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2, and at the same time invited 5 countries (Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Belarus) to send forces to participate in the parade at the ceremony.
At the regular press conference on the afternoon of July 17, the press asked the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to propose giving the reason why the Vietnamese Army invited these countries and the significance of sending forces to participate in the parade.
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said that the August Revolution was an important event, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The success of the August Revolution has strongly encouraged the national liberation movement for colonial countries around the world.
"This year's National Day celebration on September 2 once again affirms that great significance, to honor the achievements of the Vietnamese people in the struggles for national liberation, national reunification, national construction and defense, as well as the renovation process to have a Vietnam that is entering the era of rising up and developing strongly as it is today" - Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang emphasized.
According to Ms. Pham Thu Hang, the celebration is also an opportunity to express gratitude for the support and help of international friends and progressive people in the world - an important factor that made the success of the last August Revolution and Vietnam today.
The spokesperson said that on this occasion, Vietnam wishes to join international friends in honoring the lasting values of independence and freedom. With such special significance, Vietnam recently invited international friends to join in the celebration.
The Vietnamese Minister of National Defense sent a letter of invitation to the Defense Ministers of countries, including traditional friends, to visit Vietnam to attend the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2; sent forces to participate in the parade at the ceremony.
Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang affirmed that these are activities that demonstrate the friendship, solidarity and closeness between the people and the Vietnamese Army and friendly countries; at the same time, affirming the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, friendship, and trusted partner with all countries.
