protests against immigration raids in central Los Angeles on June 6, local time, increased in the evening, forcing police forces equipped with anti-violence equipment to spray pepper spray and use stunned bombs to disperse the crowd.
On the evening of June 6, police issued a tactical warning across the city nearly 2 hours after declaring the protests across the city center as illegal gatherings.
The protest comes after at least 44 people were arrested by federal immigration officials early on June 6. Employees of the Migration and Customs Enforcement Agency have executed a search warrant at 3 locations, according to a spokesperson for the Internal Security Investigation Agency.
protests gathered outside the Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles around 4 p.m. At one point, hundreds of protests began marading towards a detention facility on Temple Street.
Video on social media shows protests withdrawing from the building entrance after facing police on guard duty. Some objects thrown at officers were armed with armor and protective shields. In response, police dropped smoke bombs to disperse the demonstrators and pushed at least one person to the ground.
Other videos show the detention center sprayed with graffiti, and some protests blocked vehicles of the nearby Los Angeles Police Department.
