On October 21, the decomposing body of a man suspected of being a Chinese citizen was discovered in a sack on the side of the road, in the suburbs of Dangkor district, Phnom Penh, Cambodia - Cambodian media reported.
A local resident was the first to discover the incident, after opening the foul-smelling bag and seeing the body inside, then immediately reported it to the police.
Kongnoy commune official Vann Chanchamroeun said that on the evening of October 21 (local time) before the body was found, a car carrying the two men had appeared near this area.
After stopping the car, they brought a large sack down and threw it into the forest along the road before leaving.
According to local police, the victim, believed to be over 40 years old, was murdered.
This person may have been killed a few days ago, because the bag had a very strong smell. The suspect brought the body here to dispose of the body in a deserted place, said an officer, adding that the case may be related to online fraud.
The head of Dangkor District Police, Colonel Chim Sitha, said that the identity of the victim and the perpetrator has not yet been determined.
Meanwhile, police are extracting images from security cameras along the route to track down the car carrying the body to Kongnoy commune.
The victim's body was taken to a pagoda to serve the investigation.
