New boost in the process of recognizing the independent State of Palestine

Ngạc Ngư |

In recent days, the process of countries around the world officially recognizing the independent State of Palestine has had new developments with great international political and legal significance.

They have the impact of a new strong push to promote the trend of the world officially recognizing the independent, sovereign and territorial state of Palestine in the Middle East.

Up to now, 147 United Nations member states (UNs) have officially recognized the independent state of Palestine. Of these, only China and Russia are permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

After French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the French government would officially recognize the independent state of Palestine at the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Malta government and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also made similar statements. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer gave a ultimatum to Israel that the British Government would also officially recognize the independent state of Palestine if Israel refused to quickly cease the war and end the war in the Gaza Strip, as well as aim for a peaceful political solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine with the core content of establishing an independent state of Palestine, with sovereignty and territory co-existing peacefully with the state of Israel in the Middle East.

The United Nations has also held an international conference co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia to promote efforts to achieve a peaceful political solution to the war in the Gaza Strip and the conflict between Israel and Palestine in the direction of the "Two-state Solution" mentioned above.

There are two things that make the above moves a new strong push in the process of the world officially recognizing the independent State of Palestine. The first thing is the time and context of the current situation. In the Gaza Strip, the war between Israel and Hamas remains a persistent one.The US and Israel have publicly opposed and prevented, even pushing all Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip with the calculation that once the Palestinians no longer have territory, they will not be able to establish an independent state for the Palestinians with sovereignty and territory in the Middle East. The more countries in the world officially recognize the independent State of Palestine and the more countries in the world support, mobilize and strongly promote the process towards the " two-state solution" mentioned above, the more it is difficult for the US and Israel to realize that intention.
Secondly, France, Canada, Malta and the UK are all very special subjects in terms of officially recognizing the independent State of Palestine.France, the UK and Canada are all members of the G7, while so far none of the G7 have officially recognized the State of Palestine.Malta is a member of the EU.France and the UK are permanent members of the Board of Directors of the United Nations.

Of the five permanent members of the United Nations General Assembly, only China and Russia have so far officially recognized the State of Palestine. Therefore, the fact that the four countries mentioned above now officially recognize the State of Palestine is very beneficial to Palestine in world politics and international law. This and the recent United Nations International Conference on Palestine not only make the conflict between Israel and Palestine a trend in world politics but also make the US and Israel more isolated in the issue of promoting a peaceful political solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
