The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on December 7, 2024 in Hanoi, the Liaison Committee of Former Economic and Cultural Experts Helping the Cambodian Revolution (Expert Group) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the Expert Group. Attending the ceremony were former leaders and ministries, who are former experts in the fields of industry, finance, economics, trade, investment, agriculture, forestry, transportation, education, health, culture, information, etc.
At the ceremony, Mr. Dao Ngoc Hung - Head of the Liaison Committee of former Vietnamese economic and cultural experts in Cambodia - highlighted the achievements and important contributions of the delegation of experts in the cause of national revival and socio-economic development of Cambodia; emphasizing that with the great, timely and effective help of the Vietnamese Volunteer Army, the genuine revolutionary forces and the Cambodian people rose up to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime, moving towards liberating Cambodia on January 7, 1979.
The historic victory of January 7, 1979 was a brilliant milestone, opening a new era of independence, freedom and development for the Cambodian people. After the liberation, Cambodia suffered severe consequences from the Pol Pot genocide regime and faced numerous difficulties that seemed insurmountable. Responding to the urgent request of the Cambodian revolutionary government, the delegation of experts implemented the Party and State's policy to help the neighboring country research, develop policies and plans to restore and develop the economy, culture and society. Despite many difficulties, the cadres and experts were still enthusiastic and volunteered to carry out their noble international duty.
During the mission in the host country, with the spirit of "helping a friend is helping yourself", the expert team shared the joys and sorrows, and shared the hardships with the true patriotic forces and the Cambodian people in the most dangerous moments, overcoming countless hardships and shortages to excellently complete the assigned tasks.
With the tireless efforts of the Cambodian revolutionary government and the active and effective support of Vietnamese expert forces, including the Expert Group, the country of Cambodia has begun to revive from desolation and ruin.
The years of fighting to protect the revolutionary achievements and wholeheartedly supporting the Cambodian people have demonstrated the meaningful, pure, selfless, and loyal work of the Expert Group, shiningly demonstrating revolutionary heroism and actively contributing to the noble international cause of helping the Cambodian revolution in the 20th century, contributing to writing more heroic pages of the nation's history.
The delegates also reviewed the glorious journey, shared memories of a memorable period, contributed to the miraculous revival and strong development of Cambodia, and were proud and confident that the contributions of experts and volunteer soldiers in Cambodia will be eternal historical values and will continue to be passed down to the younger generations of the two countries.
The 45th anniversary of the establishment of the Expert Group is also a meaningful occasion for former experts to meet, share, help each other in life and continue to contribute to fostering solidarity, friendship, good neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
