As a result, members of the Arab League at the meeting approved Egypt's proposal for the future of the Gaza Strip. Both the United Nations and the EU have voted in support, while both the United States and Israel have quickly rejected the proposal. This difference in views and attitudes is not difficult to understand because the proposal of Egypt and Mr. Trump's ideas are very basic.
At the summit, member states of the Arab League did not discuss how to end the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, but only discussed plans and roadmaps for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip after the war. That would be enough because the end of the war was planned to be dealt with in the second phase of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
According to Egypt's proposal, the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip requires 53 billion USD over a period of 5 years ( Planned until 2030) and includes 3 phases. The plan does not mention any role or position of power for Hamas, but puts the Gaza Strip under the control and management of an independent Palestinian committee. This plan not only does not push Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip but also aims to help more than 2.5 million Palestinians currently in the Gaza Strip have normal, stable and peaceful living conditions in the Gaza Strip, while also aiming to establish an independent, sovereign and territorial state of Palestine including the Gaza Strip.
This new proposal for the future of the Gaza Strip is not feasible in practice because it is opposed by the US and Israel, because it depends on the outcome of the war that Israel and Hamas agreed upon in the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. With this proposal, the Arab countries have not only rejected Mr. Trump's above idea but also made it impossible.
