Transport electrification becomes a strategic priority

The wave of transportation electrification is accelerating globally, with a focus on financial incentives, electric vehicle investment and expansion of charging infrastructure.

Europe accelerates investment of hundreds of billions of euros in electric vehicles

The European Union is entering a period of strong acceleration in the race to transition to green transportation. According to Reuters on May 11, 2026, total investment in the electric vehicle industry in Europe has reached nearly 200 billion euros, focusing on the battery supply chain, electric car production and charging infrastructure.

This huge investment reflects Europe's determination to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and compete with the US and China in the green technology sector.

Reuters reported that many large auto corporations have announced plans to expand electric vehicle and battery production in Europe to build a sustainable domestic supply chain. Countries such as Germany, France, Spain or Hungary are becoming new centers of the battery and electric vehicle industry.

Not only investing in production, Europe is also strongly promoting charging infrastructure - a factor considered the "backbone" of the transportation electrification process. The network of public charging stations is being expanded rapidly to solve electric vehicle users' problems with energy charging infrastructure.

In Romania, this process is taking place clearly. On May 14, 2026, Rompetrol Group deployed a fast charging network for both electric cars and electric trucks on many important traffic routes. This network not only serves private cars but also aims at freight transportation - a field considered more difficult to electrify due to the requirements for distance and large charging capacity.

Experts believe that the expansion of infrastructure for electric trucks shows that many European countries are shifting from the phase of encouraging testing to building a comprehensive electrified transportation ecosystem.

Asia promotes incentives and expands charging infrastructure

Not only Europe, many Asian countries are also accelerating the green transition in transportation with large-scale support programs.

In the Philippines, the government is preparing to implement a preferential package worth about 60 billion pesos to promote the electric vehicle industry. The plan includes supporting production, expanding infrastructure and encouraging electric vehicle consumption.

Meanwhile, India - one of the world's largest car markets - is focusing heavily on the charging infrastructure problem. According to Hindustan Times, this country is developing a unified digital platform to connect charging stations nationwide, helping users easily find and use electrical charging services.

Long-term development strategy - restructuring a greener economy

The moves taking place simultaneously in Europe and Asia show that transportation electrification has gone beyond the scope of a technology trend.

Many countries currently see this as a long-term development strategy associated with the goal of reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality and restructuring the economy towards a greener direction. Besides environmental factors, electric vehicles are also seen as an opportunity for industrial competition in the new era. This trend puts pressure on developing countries to accelerate transformation, avoiding being left behind in the global green technology race. Transport electrification is therefore no longer a private story of the automobile industry, but has become part of the sustainable development and economic security strategies of many countries.
