At the dinner party held at the White House on July 7 (US time), Mr. Netanyahu officially presented Mr. Trump with a letter to the Nobel Committee to nominate him for this prestigious award.
"He is still creating peace, from country to region," Netanyahu said, affirming that the award was completely deserved.
In response, Mr. Trump said, "Oh, it's really meaningful, especially when the nomination comes from you."
Prime Minister Netanyahu praised the US President for pursuing peace and security in many regions of the world, especially in the Middle East. He stressed that cooperation between the two countries has created an extraordinary force, helping to face challenges and take advantage of opportunities, including US airstrikes on Iran in the recent conflict between Tel Aviv and Tehran.
The Nobel Peace Prize is decided by the Nobel Committee in Norway to honor individuals who have made great contributions to strengthening international solidarity, promoting military withdrawal or organizing peace conferences. Nominations can be made by scholars, professors, scientists, leaders of countries and those who have won prizes.
Mr. Trump has been nominated for this award many times. In February 2019, he said he was nominated by then-Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to recognize his peace efforts with North Korea.
Earlier this year, four leading Israeli scientists also sent a letter to Mr. Trump, expressing their willingness to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize if the US succeeds in pushing Hamas to return all the hostages.
Previously, the Pakistan government announced that it had nominated Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his decisive leadership role in handling the crisis between Pakistan and India.
