Google Doodle today (December 17) honors Ha Long Bay, "a place famous for more than 1,000 limestone islands formed at sea".
Introducing Doodle on December 17 to honor Ha Long Bay, Google said that on this day in 1994, Ha Long Bay was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Ha Long Bay is located in the Gulf of Tonkin in Quang Ninh province of Vietnam and was formed about 3 million years ago.
Legend has it that a mythical dragon has gone deep into the ground to create giant water-filled valleys, and only a few mountain peaks remain intact on the surface.
According to Google, the World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay has spectacular scenery, including nearly 2,000 small islands and is home to hundreds of different animal species.
"The limestone pillars and clear, emerald water lanes attract millions of visitors each year, making it one of the national treasures of Vietnam" - Google emphasized.
During the tour of Ha Long Bay, many tourists will take a journey deep into Sung So Cave - the largest cave in the bay - while others are more excited about sea adventures such as fishing, diving, kayaking, etc.
Ha Long Bay is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and a new wonder of the world. "Ha Long Bay is an invaluable cultural phenomenon that has helped scientists better understand the movement of geological regions and the history of climate change on Earth," Google emphasized.
Google Doodle honors Ha Long Bay by launching users on December 17, 2023 and is applicable to Google users in Vietnam.
