Chinese Navy successfully test-fires strategic missile from submarine

    The Chinese military affirmed that the launch was part of an annual training plan, not aimed at any specific target.

    On July 6, the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) successfully conducted a strategic missile test launch from a submarine, Xinhua reported.

    The PLA Navy said that a strategic nuclear submarine of this force successfully launched a strategic missile carrying a fake warhead towards the relevant international waters in the Pacific at 12:01 pm on July 6 and the missile fell accurately in the designated waters.

    The Chinese Navy added that the test launch is a regular activity in the annual training program of this force, and said that the Chinese side had notified the relevant countries in advance.

    The test launch complies with international law and international practices, not aimed at any country or specific target, the Chinese navy said.
