Trade unions contribute to building "Trade Union Homes" for union members
Housing for union members and workers continues to be identified as one of the focuses prioritized by the Vietnam Trade Union. Through the "Trade Union Home" program, hundreds of union members and workers have been supported with housing construction funds; trade union levels have also paid attention to proposing and recommending for union members and workers to have the opportunity to access social housing, rented housing, and rented-purchased housing.
At the end of June, authorized by the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (TKV), representatives of the Trade Union of Duong Huy Coal Company visited and provided financial support for repairing the Trade Union Shelter house for Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngoc - staff of the KCS - Consumption Department.
After 15 years of use, Mr. Ngoc's family's house has deteriorated and needs to be repaired to ensure safety, especially before the rainy and storm season.
With the attention of the TKV Trade Union, the Company and the Duong Huy Coal Trade Union, the house has now been renovated to be spacious and beautiful, creating more conditions for his family to stabilize their lives.
To ensure that union member families have a spacious and clean Trade Union Shelter, TKV Trade Union levels have supported 55 million VND.
Of which 30 million VND from the Trade Union Shelter Fund of TKV Trade Union, 20 million VND from the company and 5 million VND from the company's Trade Union.
Mr. Dao Trung Huy - Chairman of the Trade Union of Duong Huy Coal Company - shared that the amount of support from TKV Trade Union levels and the company is not large, but it is a practical and timely source of encouragement, showing the spirit of sharing and caring for the lives of union members and workers of the Trade Union organization. Thereby adding motivation for Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngoc to feel secure in his work, strive to complete his tasks well, and build a safe, stable and happy life with his family.
Newly signed 1,164 collective labor agreements
According to the VGCL, from the beginning of 2026 to now, the work of participating in policy and legal development has been concerned and implemented synchronously at all levels of trade unions.
In which, the VGCL participated in contributing opinions to build and complete 33 legal documents related to union members and workers; organized 2 conferences to supervise and criticize the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Social Insurance.
The VGCL has also organized surveys and assessments of the labor situation, wages, income, spending and living standards of workers in enterprises as a basis for developing and proposing plans to adjust the minimum wage level in 2026.
On June 23, at the first meeting of the National Wage Council, representatives of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed adjusting the regional minimum wage in 2027 according to 2 options. Option 1: Adjust the minimum wage to increase from 360,000 to 520,000 VND, an average increase of 9.8% compared to 2026. Option 2: Adjust the minimum wage to increase from 315,000 to 450,000 VND, an average increase of 8.5% compared to 2026. The proposal of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor received the consensus of workers.
The grassroots trade union has signed 1,164 new collective labor agreements, amended and supplemented 4,637 copies, with a coverage rate of over 85%. More than 50% of agreements reach type B or higher, adding many clauses that are more beneficial to workers.
In particular, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour has issued a Resolution on supporting union members and workers suffering from dangerous diseases and occupational diseases; allocating 100 billion VND from trade union financial sources at the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour level to support and care for union members and workers suffering from dangerous diseases and occupational diseases in the long term.
In which, a part is deducted to implement the program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress" to support union members and workers before and immediately after the Congress.
According to incomplete reports from trade union levels, 2,016 union members and workers were given support with a total amount of 3.106 billion VND. This is a program with profound humanitarian significance, showing the concern and companionship of the Trade Union organization in caring for the health of union members and workers.
