In the past few days, German press and the Vietnamese community in Germany have reported and expressed condolences to the families and relatives of the three Vietnamese international students, including two who died and one seriously injured, due to a car accident on Mainzer Landstrabe Street, Gallus District, Frankfurt.
According to VNA, since receiving information from the police, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt am Main has carried out citizen protection work, confirming that the victims are Vietnamese, including Nguyen Duy Quang, Nguyen Quang Minh (both of whom have died) and Hoang Trung Hieu (very seriously injured).
Consul General Luu Xuan Dong informed the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany and sent representatives to contact the police as well as local authorities, and at the same time provided maximum support in completing visa procedures to allow the victims' families to go to Germany to resolve the case. Up to now, the victim's family has been granted procedures by the Frankfurt Overseas Department for care.
In the case of the two twin brothers who died, Nguyen Duy Quang and Nguyen Quang Minh (23 years old), relatives in Hamburg (authorized) organized a funeral with friends and the Vietnamese community in Germany, teachers at altona vocational school and Kieferorthopaden altona dental clinic - where the two international students were interning - at St. Petersburg Cathedral. In the future, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt am Main will continue to support legal procedures to bring the ashes of the two students back to the country according to the correct procedure.
Regarding the cost of supporting the victims' families to bring the ashes back to the country as well as the long-term treatment for Hoang Trung Hieu, the Vietnamese community in Germany and friends announced that a fundraising event will be held at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Frankfurt am Main on July 28.
Dr. Kambiz Ghawami - President of the World University Support Organization of the Federal Republic of Germany and a close friend of Vietnam - will be the unit calling for donations and contact the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt am Main to coordinate in bringing the ashes of the two deceased victims back to the country.
It is known that the families of all 3 children in the above accident are in difficult circumstances.
