According to Xinhua News Agency, in a statement posted on social network X on August 9 (local time), Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea said that Houthi drones (UAVs) accurately attacked Saudi Aramco's oil refinery in the city of Jazan, southwestern Saudi Arabia.
The attack was carried out in response to operations that Houthi believed to be Saudi Arabian UAVs intruding into the airspace of Saada and Hajjah provinces of Yemen, Mr. Sarea said.
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Energy announced that fire brigades of Saudi Aramco's industrial security force have extinguished a fire that broke out in the early morning at an facility of a refinery in Jazan. No casualties were recorded.
Houthi's latest statement was made in the context of increasing tensions between this force and Saudi Arabia. On July 20, Houthi announced the imposition of a maritime ban on ships linked to Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea.
This force also announced that it is conducting many attacks targeting ships related to Saudi Arabia, its energy facilities and airports.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Arabia-led coalition has resumed limited airstrikes targeting key Houthi military targets in Yemen.
