Iranian officials on March 25 denied information that they were conducting talks with the US, after President Donald Trump announced that the two sides were in dialogue.
Fars news agency on March 25 quoted Lieutenant General Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Center Command, as saying that statements from the US side are inaccurate. He criticized Washington, emphasizing that "failure" should not be called an agreement.
Mr. Zolfaghari affirmed that regional order is only guaranteed by the strength of the Iranian armed forces, while emphasizing the inconsistent stance with the US. According to him, stability is only achieved when anti-Iranian intentions are completely eliminated.
This statement was in response to Donald Trump's statement that Iran wants to reach an agreement and Washington is in dialogue with a senior Tehran leader. The US leader also said that the internal situation in Iran has changed after the death of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and some senior officials.
Mr. Trump announced the postponement of the plan to attack Iranian power plants for 5 days, citing exchanges between the two sides. He also stated that Iran has brought the US a great benefit related to oil and gas.
However, according to Al Jazeera, Iranian officials all denied any negotiations with the US, saying that fighting is still ongoing and there are no signs of diplomatic progress.
At the same time, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard announced that it had launched its 80th missile attack on Israel and US military bases in the region, including targets in Safad, Tel Aviv, Kiryat Shmona and Bnei Brak, as well as bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain.
Meanwhile, the air strike campaign by the US and Israel against Iran continues. People in Tehran and some cities like Isfahan continue to hear many loud explosions.
The US has not announced any specific negotiation plans with Iran, and no senior Iranian official has confirmed that dialogue is underway. Some sources say there is a signal of indirect contact, but the identities and roles of those involved have not yet been clarified.
