On March 25, information from Nha Nam Commune Police, Bac Ninh province said that the unit had just promptly coordinated with functional forces to cordon off the scene and support the urgent relocation of many households to safe places immediately after discovering 2 large-sized bombs in Gia Tien village, Nha Nam commune.
Accordingly, at about 5:30 pm on March 21, during the process of using machinery to lower the ground level at the land plot next to the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Cong's family (residing in Gia Tien village, Nha Nam commune), people discovered 2 large metal objects suspected of being bombs.
The location where the 2 metal objects were discovered is about 50 meters from the main road, around this area there are more than 15 households with 104 people living in Gia Tien village.
Immediately after receiving the news from the grassroots security and order protection team, Nha Nam Commune Police quickly arrived, urgently cordoned off the area, deployed strict scene protection measures, established no-access zones and directly propagated and mobilized all households in the area to relocate to safe places.
At the same time, the Commune Police reported to the Chairman of the Commune People's Committee and the Commune Military Command to grasp the situation, arrange forces to coordinate with the Commune Police to be on duty and inspect 24/24h at the scene to ensure security and safety for people.
Through initial inspection, functional agencies determined that this was an MK 80 US bomb, each weighing about 60kg, from 1m to 1.2m long. The total weight of the 2 bombs is estimated at about 120kg, containing more than 78kg of explosives with very large destructive power. Notably, although the tail fuse has not been installed, the head fuse is still intact and has the ability to detonate.
To ensure absolute safety for the people, functional forces have implemented technical measures to securely fix and transport 2 bombs to the centralized detonation site at the National Field of Fire Area 1 (TB1).
Bac Ninh Provincial Police recommends that people during labor, production or construction, if they detect strange objects suspected of being explosives, absolutely do not arbitrarily touch, move or use hard objects to impact objects; maintain the scene, quickly stay away from the dangerous area; promptly notify functional agencies for handling measures.
