Iran on April 18 announced it would resume "strict management" of the Strait of Hormuz, reversing the decision to reopen this strategic route within the framework of negotiations with Washington, AFP reported.
In a statement broadcast on state television, the Iranian Central Military Command said that Washington has broken its commitment by continuing to blockade the navy against ships entering and leaving Iranian ports.
The statement stated that until the US restores freedom of movement for all ships to Iran, "the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will continue to be strictly controlled.
Previously, Iran announced the reopening of this strait on April 17, after reaching a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accused the US of "continuing piracy and sea theft under the guise of so-called blockades.
For this reason, the control of the Strait of Hormuz has returned to its previous state, and this strategic waterway is now under the strict management and control of the armed forces," the IRGC statement emphasized.
According to the IRGC, the state of the Strait of Hormuz will continue to be strictly controlled and maintained as before until the US fully restores freedom of navigation to ships from Iran to the destination and back.
