Iran reveals health status of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

Iranian sources said Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is still in good health and has limited public appearances for security reasons.

On August 9 (Tehéran time), according to TASS news agency, an Iranian source said that Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is currently in good health, and confirmed that the video about him previously released by the media was actually recorded before he became the Supreme Leader.

This is an old video. It was recorded before he became the supreme leader," the source told TASS.

The source confirmed that Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei's current health condition is "quite good", and said that the only reason he does not appear in public is security issues.

Previously, Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency published a video recording of Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei talking to a group of people. People around seemed to listen attentively to his speech.

However, Mehr did not specify when or where the video was recorded. Lack of information about the time and location caused this image to initially attract attention, in the context that Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei has rarely appeared publicly since taking office as Iran's Supreme Leader.

According to sources quoted by TASS, the video does not reflect the current activities of Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei but was recorded before he became the supreme leader.

Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei became Iran's Supreme Leader after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in a missile attack during the US and Israeli military campaign against Iran.

Since taking office as Iran's highest leader, Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei has limited public appearances. Tehran previously said he is still in good health and his absence mainly stems from security considerations.

The new information was released by Iranian sources to clarify the origin of the video released by Mehr, and at the same time refute speculations that Mr. Mojtaba Khamenei's few appearances are related to health issues.
