According to AFP, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the White House on July 28 (local time) and held talks with US President Donald Trump.
This is the first direct meeting between the two leaders since the conflict between the US and Iran broke out.
According to the White House, the closed-door talk lasted about 90 minutes and took place positively and effectively, in the context that Mr. Trump and Mr. Netanyahu are seeking to narrow the disagreements that have been publicly disclosed related to the conflict.
This is the 8th meeting between Mr. Trump and Mr. Netanyahu since the US President returned to the White House in early 2025.
According to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, during the talks, the two leaders emphasized the common goal of ensuring Iran does not possess nuclear weapons.
Prime Minister Netanyahu affirmed that he had a very positive meeting, and assessed that this was one of the best discussions he had ever had with President Trump.
In addition to the Iran issue, the two leaders are expected to discuss the implementation of the framework of the US-mediated agreement between Israel and Lebanon signed last month. The situation in the Gaza Strip is also one of the contents expected to be mentioned in the talks.
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon said that Prime Minister Netanyahu's visit takes place at a pivotal time for the Middle East, in the context that Iran continues to choose to attack instead of negotiate and obstruct maritime activities in the Strait of Hormuz.
Previously, Mr. Netanyahu attended a private memorial service in Washington to honor the late US Senator Lindsey Graham - who is considered a long-time ally of Israel.
