Iran's latest attack in the Strait of Hormuz killed 1 oil tanker sailor and injured 8 others.
The Ministry of Defense condemned this blatant attack, describing it as a serious violation and a clear violation of international law, threatening regional security and stability" - AFP quoted a statement from the UAE Ministry of Defense on social network X.
According to the UAE Ministry of Defense, the sailors killed were Indian citizens. Two UAE ships were attacked by Iranian cruise missiles.
The ministry said that the Mombasa and Al Bahiyah oil tankers were targeted in the southern lane of the Strait of Hormuz, while in Oman's territorial waters. The deceased sailors were members of the Mombasa ship.
Among the 8 injured, 4 were seriously injured. Six injured were Indian citizens and 2 were Ukrainian citizens.
The latest attack in the Strait of Hormuz caused material damage to both oil tankers after causing a fire on board. The fire is now under control.
Expressing opposition to Iran's latest attack, the UAE affirmed that it still maintains "the full right to respond to this escalation".
The UAE Ministry of Defense added that the UAE is ready to deal with any threat and is taking all necessary measures to resolutely respond to any attempts to undermine the country's security and stability.
The latest developments in the Strait of Hormuz take place after weeks of escalating tensions in the Middle East since the conflict broke out on February 28 when the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran.
