Iran has rejected the proposal for a temporary ceasefire in the conflict with the US and Israel, saying that this will create conditions for opponents to temporarily stop and prepare for the next phase of the conflict.
We call for an end to the war and to prevent the recurrence of conflict," state news agency IRNA quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei as saying.
Media reported on April 6 that Iran and the US had received a proposal to end the fighting, which could take effect on the same day.
Axios news agency reported that the US, Iran and regional mediators are discussing the possibility of a 45-day ceasefire within the framework of a two-stage agreement, aimed at permanently ending the conflict.
Mr. Baghaei did not directly mention this information in his latest statement.
He said that Iran has built a response to US requests to end the conflict and will announce it "when necessary". This information refers to a list of 15 points that Washington has forwarded to Tehran through Pakistan.
According to him, this proposal is "excessive, unusual and illogical", and emphasized that Iran has "very bitter experiences" in negotiations with the US.
The Iranian diplomat also affirmed that diplomatic talks are "completely incompatible with ultimatums, criminal acts and threats of committing war crimes".
This statement is aimed at referring to US President Donald Trump's statements about bombing Iran's important infrastructure if Tehran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
In related developments, Iranian Armed Forces spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaghari declared on April 6 that if attacks targeting civilian targets continue, Iran will respond on a much larger scale, with "multiple-time" damage.
