Iran and Russia continue to promote strategic cooperation in many fields, while affirming their opposition to external sanctions.

According to a statement posted on the website of the Iranian Presidential Office, in a meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev who is visiting Tehran, Mr. Pezeshkian criticized the application of unilateral policies by some countries, putting pressure and using sanctions to force independent countries to submit.

Mr. Pezeshkian believes that expanding scientific, industrial and economic cooperation between independent countries can help reduce the impact of pressure and external sanctions, paving the way towards a fairer international order.

The Iranian President also called for accelerating the implementation of strategic agreements between Iran and Russia, affirming that Tehran is ready to remove obstacles in the process of implementing joint projects.

President Pezeshkian said that the two countries have great cooperation potential in fields such as energy, oil, gas, petrochemicals, industry and trade. At the same time, he emphasized that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has emphasized the importance of strengthening relations with Russia.

Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev affirmed that Moscow is determined to implement joint cooperation projects with Iran. Mr. Tsivilev also appreciated Iran's maintenance of an independent stance and resistance to external pressure.

In recent years, Iran and Russia have been strengthening political and economic relations to reduce the impact of US restrictions.
