On July 14, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam Journalists Association coordinated with the Government Office and the Ministry of Finance to organize a press conference to inform about the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year and the directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
Providing information on the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year, Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Quoc Phuong stated clearly that in the context of the world continuing to fluctuate unpredictably, the socio-economic situation in the second quarter and the first 6 months of 2026 has achieved many important results.

Notably, it continues to maintain positive growth momentum in most sectors; the macroeconomy is basically stable, inflation is controlled, and energy security is guaranteed. GDP in 6 months is estimated to increase by 8.18%, the highest since 2011, belonging to the group of high-growth economies. The drivers of investment, consumption, and exports are growing positively, the highest in many years.
The average consumer price index (CPI) for 6 months increased by 4.38%, within the target range (about 4.5%); electricity and gasoline supply was guaranteed. By July 8, state budget revenue reached nearly 1.62 million billion VND, equal to 64.24% of the estimate. Disbursement of public investment capital in 6 months reached nearly 357 trillion VND, reaching 35.5% of the plan, higher than the same period of 38.4 trillion VND.
The fields of culture, society, social security, and environmental protection continue to be concerned; the average income of workers reached about 9 million VND/month, an increase of 8.6% over the same period. The quality of education and training, medical examination and treatment has been improved; free medical examination and treatment for health insurance participants is implemented from July 1, 2026.
National defense and security are maintained; foreign affairs and international integration continue to be bright spots, especially high-level foreign affairs, contributing to enhancing the country's position...

Regarding directions and tasks for the last 6 months of the year, the Government has issued a growth scenario for the last 6 months of the year to achieve the goal of striving for double-digit growth and controlling average inflation of about 4.5%; and at the same time fully and comprehensively concretize 8 groups of key tasks and solutions according to the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam at the Government-locality online conference.
Assessing the contents informed in the conference as very necessary and timely, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Tran Thanh Lam requested agencies to strengthen information provision so that the press can promptly grasp and accurately reflect, contributing to orienting public opinion.
Mr. Tran Thanh Lam also reminded press agencies to continue to stick to reality, proactively provide complete and timely information about outstanding results as well as key tasks and solutions in the last 6 months of the year.
The propaganda process needs to ensure objectivity, accuracy, clarify the achieved results, vividly reflect the efforts of all levels, sectors, localities and the business community in implementing development goals, thereby spreading determination, consolidating trust and creating motivation to successfully implement tasks.
