Iran's IRNA news agency on March 1 reported that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Abdul Rahim Mousavi, and Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh were killed. IRNA also announced that several other commanders of the country's armed forces had died, and their identities will be announced later.
Earlier, Tehran confirmed that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, National Security Council leader Ali Shamkhani and IRGC Revolutionary Guard Commander Mohammad Pakpour were killed.
In that context, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced the launch of a 6th attack on March 1 targeting Israel and US-backed military bases in the Middle East. Explosions were recorded in several capitals and major cities in the region.
The Israeli military said it detected a series of missiles launched from Iran in the morning and activated the air defense system. Air strike sirens rang in many areas in central and southern Israel.
In Dubai, UAE, 3 loud explosions were recorded at around 8:15 am on March 1. Local authorities said debris from weapons intercepted in the air fell into the Business Bay area, causing a fire at Jebel Ali commercial port, followed by a high column of smoke.
New developments show that the conflict is escalating, with serious personnel casualties in Iran and attacks spreading to many locations in the region.
