The Israeli military has said it will provide tents and shelters for residents in Gaza City before the evacuation. These tents were moved through the Kerem Shalom border gate in the southern Gaza Strip, distributed by the United Nations and international relief organizations, under the supervision of the Israeli Defense Ministry.
The move comes as Israel has said it is preparing to launch a campaign to take control of Gaza City, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the last province of Hamas. The Israeli military said the move of people to the southern Gaza Strip was to ensure their own safety before the attack.
The United Nations has expressed concern about the plan, saying that no place in the Gaza Strip is considered safe, including the southern region. However, the agency welcomed Israel's permission to include tents and relief supplies, considering it an opportunity to meet the urgent need for shelter for the people.
Meanwhile, the Hamas ally Jihad Palestine, condemned Israel's plan, calling it a "violation of international treaties".
According to the Hamas-controlled health agency, the conflict has claimed the lives of more than 61,500 people in the Gaza Strip. The United Nations has warned that the occupation of Gaza City could lead to serious humanitarian consequences, while stakeholders remain deeply divided on solutions for the area.
