The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah on October 8 was extremely intense. Israel mobilized the 146th Division to enter the Lebanese border to serve the ground campaign.

Israel began its ground operation in Lebanon on October 2. The Israeli military described the operation as localized and limited in nature, but its scope has been steadily expanding.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the main goal of the ground operation is to help tens of thousands of Israelis return home by completely eliminating Hezbollah's presence in the border area. The Israeli military has no intention of advancing deep into Lebanon, the IDF added.
Border clashes between Hezbollah and Israel have become increasingly tense and have occurred almost daily since the war in the Gaza Strip broke out on October 7, 2023. Hezbollah says its attacks are to show support for Hamas and protect the Palestinian people.
