The Israeli army will not withdraw from the "Golden Road" and will continue to maintain its current positions in the Gaza Strip, while Israel will not change its approach to operations targeting extremist armed elements, Mr. Dmitri Gendelman - advisor to the Israeli Prime Minister's Office - shared with TASS news agency.
The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) will not retreat from the "Golden Road", will remain in its current positions and continue to deal with all threats to its forces as well as its citizens. Israel will also not change its approach to deliberately killing gunmen," Gendelman said.
The "Golden Road" is the temporary demarcation line in the Gaza Strip, established under a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States in October 2025 to divide the territory controlled by the Israeli army from the rest of Gaza.
The statement was made after a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr. Jared Kushner - son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.
At the meeting, the Israeli side stated that there would be no reconstruction activities in the Gaza Strip until Hamas is disarmad throughout this territory. The first step of the demilitarization process is for Hamas to hand over weapons for the US to monitor the destruction," the advisor added.
Linking disarmament conditions with the reconstruction process shows that the gap between the parties in any plan for Gaza is still very large, as Israel puts Hamas's weapons issue ahead of any further steps.
