Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that the implementation of the agreements will begin with Israel withdrawing troops from southern Lebanon.

According to a statement from the Lebanese Presidential Office, after a meeting in Washington, President Joseph Aoun and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio agreed on steps to implement the peace agreement to end the conflict between Lebanon and Israel.

President Aoun thanked the US for contributing to promoting progress in the negotiations, and emphasized that the framework agreement signed on June 26 is the foundation for ending all conflicts between the two sides," the statement said.

According to President Aoun, the implementation of the agreement will begin with Israel withdrawing troops from southern Lebanon. After that, the first pilot area controlled by the Lebanese government will be established.

The Lebanese leader also proposed that the US strengthen support for the country's military and law enforcement forces, and encourage US businesses to expand investment in key sectors such as energy, telecommunications and transportation.

It is expected that on July 21, President Joseph Aoun will hold talks with US President Donald Trump at the White House. This will be the first summit between the leaders of Lebanon and the US since 2009. The two sides are expected to exchange measures to strengthen the ceasefire and maintain long-term stability in Lebanon.

Previously, after 5 rounds of negotiations mediated by the US in Washington, Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement. According to the agreement, the Lebanese army will gradually restore control over the entire territory, while Israel is committed to withdrawing forces from its controlled areas.
