According to TASS, speaking at a cabinet meeting on August 9 (local time), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu affirmed that Israel does not accept the 15-point Gaza plan. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will not withdraw troops until Hamas is completely disarmaged.
Mr. Netanyahu emphasized that this request includes the removal of all heavy weapons, light weapons and other weapons of Hamas, and must be implemented substantively, instead of just formally.
“Currently, we are discussing this issue with the US side. They have put forward some ideas, including proposals that are suitable for Israel and some unacceptable proposals. We know how to maintain our position on such issues,” Netanyahu added.
The Israeli leader praised the partnership with the US in efforts to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons. He also declared that Israel will not allow Iran to possess this weapon, regardless of the outcome of negotiations between the US and Iran.
