At least 132 people died in earthquake in Colombia

The strongest earthquake in a decade has left hundreds of casualties in Colombia, a red alert was issued.

At least 132 people were killed and 570 others injured after a strong earthquake hit western Colombia on August 10, TASS reported.

According to information quoted by TASS from local radio station BluRadio, red alerts have been issued in 32 cities across the country showing the widespread damage caused by the natural disaster.

Previously, the Colombian Geological Agency announced that a magnitude 7.4 earthquake had hit western Colombia on August 10 and this was the strongest earthquake to hit the country in the past decade. According to this agency, the epicenter of the earthquake was recorded in San Jose del Palmar in Choco province.

President Abelardo de la Espriella previously said the biggest impact was recorded in the cities of Pereira and Manizales.
