A domestic flight of Japanese airline All Nippon Airways had to return to the departure airport on January 13 after discovering a crack in the cockpit window of a Boeing 737-800 in the air.
Reuters quoted spokesperson All Nippon Airways (ANA) as saying that flight 1182 was en route to Toyama airport but was forced to return to Sapporo-New Chitose airport after discovering cracks in the top of four layers of windows surrounding the cockpit. The spokesperson added that there were no reports of injuries to any of the 59 passengers and 6 crew members.
The plane is not one of Boeing's 737 Max 9. The latest incidents have attracted attention after a Alaska Airlines Boeing had its door opened in the fuselage in the airspace last week.
"The cracks do not affect the flight's control or regulation capability," said an ANA spokesperson.
The US aviation authority on January 12 extended the indefinite ban on Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft for safety inspection and said it would tighten supervision of Boeing.
