VNA quoted information from US authorities as saying that the plane de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter carrying 20 people crashed in Tennessee on June 8 (local time). Some people on the plane were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
On social network X, Tennessee Road Patrol Police said they are providing assistance to the authorities at the scene of the plane crash on Old Shelbyville Road in the heart of Coffee bean. Some victims had been taken by plane to nearby hospitals.
Social media images show a small white plane with a deep nose stuck into the grass and a broken tail.
Meanwhile, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a notice confirming that the crashed plane "ahead of takeoff from Tullahoma Regional Airport in Tennessee at around 12:35 on June 8" (0:45 on June 9, Hanoi time).
According to the FAA, there were 20 people on the plane and the agency is investigating the cause of the crash.
Local media reported that the crashed plane was used for adventurous parachuting activities.
