Plane crashes into water near beach in US

The plane crash occurred near a beach in Boca Raton, Florida, and the only person on board was not injured.

A light aircraft crashed near a beach in Boca Raton, Florida, southeastern United States, local police said on August 22 (local time), TASS reported.

Boca Raton police are assisting in handling the small engine plane crash. The only person on board has been taken to a hospital in the area for precaution," city police announced on social network X.

According to the Boca Raton Police Department and the Boca Raton Fire and Rescue Force, the plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida in the morning. The only woman on board was not injured and was taken to a local hospital according to preventive procedures.

US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokeswoman Cassandra Nolan told WPBF radio that the Piper PA30 2-engine crashed into the sea, about 2 miles east of Boca Raton airport, at about 10:40 am local time.

The flight took off from Page Field Airport in Fort Myers and was en route to South Bimini Airport in the Bahamas. Ms. Clara Bennett, Executive Director of Boca Raton Airport Authority, said the plane was authorized to land at Boca Raton Airport when an emergency was announced.

The female pilot was taken out of the plane by Boca Raton Marine Rescue. Police advised people to avoid the area at 250 S. Ocean Avenue, near West Palmetto Park. Many curious people gathered at South Beach Park to watch.

The waterway patrol unit of Boca Raton police and the US Coast Guard are still present at the scene. The US Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the details of the incident, while experts are working to salvage the plane from the water.
