The US arrested another oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea on January 15, US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced.
Minister of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced the arrest with a video of this activity.
Early this morning, a special task force of the US Coast Guard conducted a search and arrest of the oil tanker Motor Tanker Veronica in the Caribbean Sea before dawn," she said.
The US Secretary of Homeland Security informed that before being arrested, the Motor Tanker Veronica had passed through Venezuelan waters and was "operating despite the isolation order for sanctioned ships in the Caribbean Sea established by President Trump".
The South American Command said that marines and sailors of the Southern Spear Joint Task Force departed from the USS Gerald R. Ford and "arrested the oil tanker Veronica without any incidents".
This is the 6th oil tanker related to Venezuela to be searched by the US military in the past few weeks, after escalating tensions between the US and Venezuela.
The oil tanker seizure took place less than 2 weeks after the US arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. The Venezuelan leader is facing accusations in the US, including drug terrorism plots and cocaine import plots. Both Mr. Maduro and his wife deny the accusations.
